Weekly News!
(3rd—10th of June 2013)

Monday: Our new-found friends, Jannie and Irene, a couple from Namibia arrived in order to join us in our missionary work for one week. Many thanks to Kingfisher Hallow Guesthouse for accommodating them and making their stay here very comfortable!

Tuesday AM: The four of us went together to Sir Lowry’s Pass to bring some supplies to the soup kitchen and each of the 4 day-care centres that we work with.
Tuesday PM: We, Philip and I, went to Cape Town to pick up soup bones and other supplies…...In the evening the four of us joined back together for the evening meal and some Word studies.

Wednesday: The four of us got back together around 9 to continue our Word studies. After that we again went to Sir Lowry’s Pass, with more supplies and to follow up on the previous days work.
In the afternoon we went together to pray for the sick at the HH hospital. Many were touched and miraculously healed. A young woman in the emergency ward was with an oxygen mask fighting for every breath struggling to breathe, and shaking with pain. After repeated prayer she was free of pain, and removed her mask, which she had been clinging to for dear life, and asked us to please help her with her bus fare home!!! Ha! Praise the Lord! There were many others healed as well.

Thursday AM: Irene and I spend the morning sorting and organizing some beautiful hand knitted baby blankets, jerseys, hats, mittens and sock that were donated for us to distribute. We will bring most, if not all of this to the HH hospital where many young, and teenage mothers from the townships give both and often are in dire need to clothing for their babies.  After sorting and organizing the baby clothes we, Irene and Rita, prepared art kits for our Hope for Kids program in Sir Lowry’s Pass. There were scissors, glue, coloured pencils, pencils, sharpeners, etc. to be divided.
Thursday evening we had our weekly Life-team meeting, where we were about 10 of us sharing testimonies and studying and discussing together. “Iron sharpeneth iron”, and we always enjoy these times.

Friday AM: Philip and I went to pray for the sick at the Sir Lowry’s Pass clinic after which we met up with Jannie and Irene and some of our other Life-team members at the soup kitchen. There we again prayed for the needy and arranged for the Hope for Kids program.
Friday afternoon was the ‘Hope for Kids’ program. This time we had a very manageable group of about 50 children show up and the second part of the program was accomplished.

Saturday: An unexpected day of rest was prepared for us. Due to the rainy weather we stayed home during the day. In the afternoon Jannie and Irene joined us, and we continue our Word studies, plus Irene cooked a delicious meal of lasagne for all of us, ummmm!

Sunday: Philip and I did fundraising at the market. Jannie and Irene  came later on and when the market was over we all went to the Gracelife church together. Afterwards we returned for a bite to eat and a short time of fellowship.

Hope for kids project Sir Lowry's Pass

On the 10th and again on the 24th of this month (May 2013) we started a bi-weekly program, called “Hope for Kids” for the children of the Sir Lowry’s Pass village. The aim of the program is to bring the children into a personal relationship with Jesus, helping them realize their identity in Christ, and to be able to turn around and likewise reach out to others. The teaching is done through fun games, arts and crafts, memorizing scriptures, etc. We also make some nice food and treats available for the children as they all come from needy families. Following are some pictures taken at the event: # 1 On the 10th we had about 50 children, but by the time the 24th arrived we had approx. 200, showing that the need is great and the “harvest truly is ready”. # 2: Gerda and Philip helping the children learn John 3:16—which Philip was also challenged to repeat in Afrikaans to the great amusement of all! # 3 & 4: The program includes lots of fun indoor and outdoor games, which the children love and readily participate in, and each games instil a Bible verse in their hearts. # 5: The kids enjoying a snack after lots of fun and active games!

Would you like to help? We need you!
With the big influx of children we need more Afrikaans speaking people to help, so if you are available Friday afternoon twice a month from 3:30-5 pm please let us know. Presently the program is on every other week as there are not enough people able to commit weekly. If you are not able to come personally you can also help via your contributions: We need pre-sliced bread, approx. 20 loaves. We also need peanut butter and jam, or mayonnaise and grated cheese (we are presently alternating between the 2. If you would like to donate something different to spread on the bread, that will also be fine.—We have the cheese, but would need 3 kg mayonnaise. We also serve a piece of fruit (200 approx.) as well as either water or juice. We also like to give a small contribution of R 50 to the kitchen volunteers and our “janitor” for their labours of love (4-5 people each time, petrol for the generator, etc. Thank you!

April News 2013

APRIL NEWS (from our news letter)

Dear friends and partners.
We want to start by thanking the Lord, and all of you, for another fruitful month of ministering to the poor. In spite of the world’s poor economic state, the poor are still being fed and clothed. Jesus said: "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you". (Matthew 6: 31-33) God’s Word stands and shall never pass away in spite of world conditions! Jesus also said: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. (Luke 6:38). We are praying that all of you are being blessed and prosperous as you continue pouring out!
